Contemporary Medical Acupuncture

A peripheral nerve stimulation technique, using fine solid needles that are inserted through the skin to anatomically defined neurofunctional sites. These points can be stimulated manually or with electricity for the therapeutic purpose of stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. Acupuncture can be effective as a solitary treatment, or as an adjunct to other therapeutic interventions.

Athletic & Clinical Taping

Athletic and functional tape are used as an adjunct to therapy to reduce pain perception, enhance positional awareness (proprioception), act as a postural reminder, and reduce swelling and bruising. Athletic tape is firm and inelastic and therefore better suited to restrict movement that may lead to injury or irritation of an underlying condition. Functional tape (e.g. Kin Tape, Rocktape, Spidertech) is elastic in nature thus helping to reinforce and facilitate movement patterns.

Rehabilitation & Exercise Therapy

Exercise-based rehabilitation is utilized to return tissues to their pre-injury state, reduce future injury, and address faulty movement patterns. Programs are specifically tailored to each patient and may include strengthening, endurance exercises, mobility training, movement re-education, balance/proprioceptive training as well as sport-specific exercises.

Athletic movement assessments are also available for both individuals and teams. Please contact for details.

Prenatal & Postpartum Rehabilitation

Dedicated to all the moms. We focus on the pillars of movement including breathwork and specific exercises to develop core strength and functional control to help you get back into your daily routine.

Custom Orthotics

We provide our patients with the best fitting orthotic devices or over-the-counter supports to meet their individual, biomechanical and lifestyle needs. Our prescription orthotics can be made for a casual shoe, athletic shoe or skate. Orthotics can provide enough rigidity to support the feet all while offering the foot the right amount of flexibility to properly absorb forces on the ankles, knees, hips and spine. Often combining orthotics with the appropriate assessment and treatment of biomechanical gait abnormality is essential to the improvement of mechanical conditions.

Laser & Light Therapy

Laser and light therapy is a proven and highly effective treatment which increases local microcirculation that accelerates tissue repair, reduces pain, decreases inflammation and edema, and enhances immune responses and angiogenesis. It stimulates the body’s natural repair response at the cellular level to reduce pain and accelerate healing.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive, alternative to surgery for those suffering from many joint, ligament and tendon disorders.

Conditions that can be treated by Shockwave Therapy:

  • Plantar Fasciitis/Heel Spur
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Myofascial Trigger Points
  • Jumper’s Knee
  • Stress Fractures
  • Bursitis
  • Hallux Rigidus
  • Shin Splints
  • Non-Healing Ulcers
  • Calcific Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
  • Scar Tissue Treatment
  • Muscle and connective tissue activation with V-ACTOR
  • Osgood-Schlatter
  • Hamstring Tendinopathy
  • Tennis Elbow

Dolphin Neurostim/Microcurrent Point Stimulation Therapy

Applies brief concentrated micro-impulses to key neurological points that reduce nervous system stress to relax muscles and relieve pain. It applies stimulus to acupuncture treatment points that target specific pain conditions in the body. The goal is to release fascia, stress reduction, increasing blood circulation and lymph drainage.

Used for:

  • Scars (including post surgical, post trauma)
  • Treatment of Sports Injuries
  • Enhancement of Sports Performance
  • Pediatric Sensory Balancing

Concussion Management

An evidence-based, multi-modal approach is used to educate and treat concussions and post-concussion syndrome. Baseline concussion testing is also available.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

A manual therapy approach to musculoskeletal injuries using specifically designed tools to assist in effective treatment of abnormal tissues brought on by surgeries, injuries, and overuse of muscles. IASTM helps to create a controlled inflammatory process that will allow for first-stage tissue healing to begin, breakdown abnormal tissue densities in the troubled area, stimulate the nervous system, and accelerate the recovery process. Tissue extensibility dysfunctions include scarring and fibrosis, fascial tension and densification, neural tension, muscle shortening, neurologic restriction, and trigger points.
